Sector overview
Classic car restoration is far more than an ordinary paint job. A body that is decades old can combine layer upon layer of old paint, thick filler left by past repairs, hidden rust spots and thinned sheet metal. A successful restoration means taking the body back to bare metal, completing the metal repairs and patiently recreating the original body lines, while the compatibility of each layer with the next determines how long the result will last.

Unknown layers of old paint
Painting directly over previous repairs can cause blistering and wrinkling due to incompatibility between the layers. Stripping the body back to bare metal with Paint Stripper lets you start from a clean, known base.

Hidden corrosion and thinned sheet metal
Rust spots under the old paint often only become visible after stripping. Areas where the metal repair is complete are quickly protected with 1K Fast Repair Primer, while small holes and cracks are bridged with Fibreglass Filler.

Preserving the original body lines
The characteristic lines of classic cars call for layered, controlled filling work. Shaping with Universal Polyester Filler, fine levelling with Soft Finishing Filler and sanding with a long block help to recreate the lines faithfully to the original.

On a restored car, surface waviness and low gloss are noticed immediately. High-build 5+1 HS Acrylic Primer and full-bodied 2K Acrylic HS Clear Coat aim for a deep, clear finish after compounding and polishing.
