R&D and Laboratory
We build our R&D work around the goal of developing formulations that save time in the workshop and make a difference on the surface.
A good coating formulation is the product of a delicate balance between binder, pigment, extender, additives and solvent. We consider this balance not only in terms of laboratory values but also in the light of the real conditions the technician faces at the workbench. By evaluating drying behaviour under different temperature and humidity conditions, ease of sanding and compatibility between layers, we aim to develop products that deliver predictable results in the field.
Field feedback is our most important guide when developing new products and improving existing ones. We record the observations of applicators and business partners, and we implement formulation changes only after validating them through controlled trials and comparative testing. By closely following developments in chemicals legislation and the trend towards lower-emission technologies, we aim to prepare our product range for the needs of the future.
Parameters we monitor
- Viscosity and flow measurement
- Density and solids content testing
- Pot life and gel time monitoring
- Drying and sanding times
- Dry film thickness (DFT) measurement
- Cross-cut adhesion testing
- Gloss measurement (60°)
- Hardness and flexibility assessment
- Colour and surface appearance checks
- Storage stability monitoring
What we prioritise in formulation
Focus on Low VOC
Through high-solids (HS) systems and optimised solvent selection, we are working on formulations that reduce volatile organic compound emissions without compromising application performance.
Fast Drying and Energy Efficiency
With systems that offer short flash-off times between coats and effective drying at low baking temperatures, we aim to reduce booth time and energy consumption.
Sandability and Labour Efficiency
We focus on shortening the time spent on surface preparation with filler and primer formulations that sand easily without clogging the abrasive paper and give smooth results at feathered edges.
Adhesion on Difficult Substrates
Developing filler and primer solutions that provide reliable adhesion on hard-to-bond substrates such as galvanised steel, aluminium, plastics and composites is one of our priorities.
